It depends entirely on how you travel. Oceania and Regent lean into destination-rich itineraries and refined dining. Silversea is all-suite, very quiet, and highly personal. Viking Ocean is destination-focused and adults-only. Windstar is small-ship and casual-elegant, and Explora Journeys is one of the newest ultra-luxury entries in the category. Those six are where I focus most, and I also hold the Princess Academy Commodore rank and book plenty of other lines beyond that, so if there's one on your mind, just ask. Is it worth paying for a higher cabin category?

Sometimes. On a port-heavy itinerary where you're off the ship most days, a lower balcony or oceanview can be exactly right. On a sea-day-rich sailing, or in a suite-only ship like Silversea or Seabourn, the room becomes part of the experience and the upgrade pays for itself. I'll tell you honestly which sailings reward a suite and which don't.
Do you book Alaska and Mediterranean sailings?

Yes, those are two of the most requested itineraries I plan. For Alaska I focus on glacier-rich routes with the right ship size for the ports you actually want to see. For the Mediterranean I plan around shoulder-season weather, port congestion, and pre or post-cruise stays in cities like Rome, Barcelona, Athens, or Venice.
